The Story Behind the Story: “Thunder”

Thunder” was written in the thick of my graduate studies. It was one of those rare gifts in writing—a story that skips conception and gestation, arriving fully formed so urgently that to ignore it for even a moment might mean losing it. I wrote the thing at a sprint, revised it for a day or so, then returned to my course work, invigorated.
