    Laine Cunningham writes speculative and historical literary fiction that blends magic with modern sensibilities. Her novels have received the Hackney Literary Award, the James Jones Literary Society Fellowship, Writer’s Digest’s 2016 ebook award, and honors from national and international art councils. Her short stories have won the 2016 Hackney Award as well as the 2017 Writer’s Digest contest, and have been published by Reed Magazine, Birmingham Arts Journal, and Writer’s Digest in their annual anthology. Laine's extensive nonfiction book credits include The Zen of Dogs: Wisdom That Wags the Tail, The Wisdom of Babies, Writing While Female or Black or Gay, and a women’s adventure travel memoir called Woman Alone: A Six-Month Journey Through the Australian Outback. For over twenty years, she has been a ghostwriter and publishing consultant.
